BankOnIT Internal Audit Manager Gains CISA Certification

Sharon Bracken, Internal Audit Manager at BankOnIT, successfully passed the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification exam and has completed all requirements to become CISA-certified.

The CISA certification is globally recognized as the standard of achievement for individuals who evaluate an organization’s IT and enterprise systems. It is administered by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), a global organization that provides industry guidelines and benchmarking, as well as educational tools for those working with information systems. An individual must have at least 5 years of professional IT audit experience to become CISA-certified and must take and pass the CISA exam.*

Prior to joining BankOnIT in February of 2016, Bracken spent several years gaining IT Audit experience within the banking industry. During that time, Bracken reviewed multiple networks, core systems, additional application systems and the providers behind those systems. Working with hundreds of banks has given Bracken a firm understanding of the need for governance over information technology within financial institutions as well as what banks face as they prepare for audits and exams.

BankOnIT has annual SOC audits from an independent CPA firm as well as regular Technology Service Provider exams from Federal banking examiners. Bracken assists the firm with managing both of these. Bracken’s CISA certification is a great accomplishment for her and BankOnIT as they continue pursuing BankOnIT’s goal of better helping bankers remain secure, efficient and regulatory compliant.
